Day 89 of P90X – Core Synergistics complete.
Just finished Day 89 of P90X - Core Synergistics....I've never felt more in shape in my entire adult life!
As Robyn and I finish the 90-day P90X routine I've lost 20 pounds - I started at 197 and I currently weigh 177. Robyn has lost 24 pounds. Aside from the weight loss we both look and feel better than we have our entire adult life.
Seriously, there is "working out" and then there is "working out!"
The thing I can't get out of my head as we finish is the fact that I "worked out" for many of my ...
Day 80 of P90X – Plyometrics complete.
That's right - only 10 days left!!! I finished Day 80 this morning with a sweating rendition of Plyo X - aka Jump Training.
Plyometrics is the most grueling of the cardio workouts, but there is a reason I tend to push it more than normal.
The P90X videos typically include Tony Horton the instructor and three or four others that are either friends with Tony or who have worked out with him in the past.
The Plyometrics video is special because one of the three individuals in the workout has a wooden leg - yepper, a wooden ...
Day 79 of P90X – Back and Biceps + Ab Ripper X complete.
Just completed Day 79 of P90X - Back and Biceps + Ab Ripper X.
Today starts week 12 and was supposed to be Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps but Robyn's chest hurt so we swapped Wednesday's workout for today.
Solid burn today - since the focus was on "only" two muscle groups the end result is an extraordinary burn for your biceps and back. For the last bicep workout you line up four different sets of dumbbells from the heaviest you can do down - each set is eight reps....you start with the highest weight and do ...
Day 73 of P90X – Plyometrics (jump training) complete.
Just completed Day 73 of P90X - Plyometrics (also called Jump Training).
Tony Horton (P90X instructor) calls Plyometrics "the Mother of all P90X workouts." I agree.
In terms of a solid cardiovascular workout nothing else in the P90X series competes with Plyo - it's 60 minutes of sweating and pushing.
Workouts are broken into 4 sets....the first three are 30 seconds each and the fourth set is typically 60 seconds.....then you repeat all 4 sets and take a 30 second break, which really isn't a break because by the time you walk over to your water there is 15 ...
Day 72 of P90X – Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X complete.
Just finished 53 minutes of Chest & Back and 16 minutes of Ab Ripper X.
Solid workout today - good old fashioned push-ups kick my butt every time!
Today's workout is broken in to 12 different exercises with an equal combination of chest (push-up) & back (pull-up) routines. Once you finish the first 12 exercises it repeats. Push-ups include standard, military, decline, and more, while pull-ups include close grip, wide grip, reverse grip, and more.
Feeling good.
Day 69 of P90X – Kenpo X in the history books.
Just completed 58 minutes and some change of Kenpo X - an intense karate based P90X cardiovascular workout. Day 69 is in the bag.
Here are my quick thoughts on Kenpo X.
Kenpo X is one of the most fun P90X workouts because it includes variety and full body movement.
Unlike other videos that focus on only one muscle group until you can barely move (think chest via a bazillion push-ups, back through a jazillion pull-ups, and ab ripper through a pajillion sit-ups)...with Kenpo X you are moving your entire body...or major parts of the body...at all times.
In ...
Day 57 of P90X – Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X complete.
Just completed day 57 of P90X - Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X.
It was great to get back to some muscle building after a week of strength training (Core / Yoga) and cardiovascular workouts (Kenpo X / Plyometrics).
P90X Chest & Back is as old school as it gets - tons of push-ups and pull-ups until you can't push or pull anymore.
By the end of the workout you feel that your body has undergone a complete muscle drain - for the first few minutes it's pretty difficult to lift your arms above your head ...
Day 48 of P90X – Kenpo X complete.
Just finished Day 48 of Kenpo X with Robyn. Great workout today - I actually turned to Robyn and said this is getting easy....of course that's not true, but we definitely worked hard this morning and felt great doing so. Today ends Week 7 of P90X since tomorrow is an R & R day. Looking ahead....next week is 100% cardio vascular and strength training exercises - should be fun! Here's a Kenpo X video I found on YouTube - gives you a better idea of the workout:
Day 47 of P90X – Legs & Back + Ab Ripper X complete.
Just completed Day 47 of P90X - Legs & back solo....since Robyn woke up and worked out at 5:30am (a little bit too early for me) because she had a meeting.
For me....the legs workout may be the most challenging of all - it just seems like I expend more energy working legs than any other body part.
I also know that I just worked my tail off when I complete the video in my exercise room on the second floor and walk down our large spiral (actually it's curved) staircase - it feels like I'm ...
